Update Scmupdate

I have been completely neglecting my blog over the past 6 months. I do apologise (to ALL my readers out there! jks hi mum)

Okay 4 things.

1. Did my trip to Europe, loved every minute of it and would solo travel again and again. Good for the mind, body and soul! etc etc. Visited my peeps in Warrington, went on a pub crawl in Camden, got drunk and partied in Brugge, walked through the rain on an art tour in Berlin, visited a church decorated entirely with human bones and played in the snow in beautiful Prague. I really do love Europe, was definitely born in the wrong hemisphere!

2. Saw two of my beautiful friends get married in none other than amazing New York City, couldn’t be happier for them both! Did some sightseeing while I was there! Climbed to the top of the Empire State Building, strolled through Central Park, snacked on cream cheese bagels (they’re to die for, I’m craving one right now), made friends with a squirrel, watched a broadway musical and shopped till I dropped!

And on a side note.. as of Last week not only New York but the whole of the US has legalised gay marriage. C’mon Australia, step up your game, you’re an embarrassment!

3. I have moved into a new apartment, just 5 mins from work. My housemate is lovely and the apartment is huge and I love it. Apart from it being at least minus 5 degrees most days, but hey who needs fingers and toes anyway.

4. And last but not least… Job Update! yaaaaaay!

Just started my 7th month with Flight Centre, we celebrated the End Of Financial Year with a fancy ball, all the girls in the store got dolled up, we hired a limo (p.s. I never want to drive in a regular car again) and everyone had a few drinks and danced(slut dropped) all night and we all had a ball! (pun intended)

till next time xxx

Travel as much as you can

Easter long weekend

I’m a bit behind in my posts and easter has been and gone. But thought I’d post about my weekend anyway, I’ve been lazy over the last few months… that and I haven’t had much to post about!

In my endeavour to see as much of England as I can before I make my way home I thought I’d take a trip up to the North East, home of the Geordie Shore 😛 Maybe not as exciting as going overseas but much better than staying in Warrington for a long weekend!

We took the train on friday after Jack had finished work, we spent the night in Leeds and had dinner in a cool New York style burger bar where we tried to devour the biggest (and most delicious) burger I had ever seen in my life. Even sharing it between the 2 of us we still managed to get entirely defeated. We washed down our shame with a couple of awesome cocktails and had a walk around the town centre where we went to the oldest (still operating) pub in Leeds. We ordered some drinks and stood by the bar as sitting was not an option! Turned out it was quite a popular place! After a little while we took to the streets and had a look around town before retiring early because we were still too full on burger to walk around any longer.

The next day we checked out the markets and a few cathedrals and made our way to York! We had limited time in york so we hopped on the city explorer open top bus. I know, how much more touristy can you get?? But I gotta say it was a great way to experience the city and learn some history along the way. We checked out the Shambles, Clifford tower, York Minster, had ice cream in the Museum Gardens by St Mary’s Abbey, had a quick walk through the Yorvik Viking Museum, hiked the city walls AND fed a little lamb. All in all it was a great day.

That night we hopped a train and travelled onwards to Newcastle! Now this night we put the sight seeing aside and went out for a drink! Starting the night in Sinners (an appropriately named seedy nightclub) we took a couple of cheap triple shot drinks and the theme was set for the night. Messy. We snuck into Tiger Tiger, had a dance in Madamme Koos and a few other nightclubs I can’t remember. One having a really cool underground crypt feel to it and playing Mumford and Sons. I think this one was my fave!

The next day, I kid you not, I spent the first few hours sipping iced water and trying to sober up and work up the ability to eat something, and keep it down- totally worth it! It was a slow start to the day but we still got a lot done. Visited the castle, walk down the markets alongside Quayside, visited the St Nicholas Cathedral and took a trip out to the Long sands beach at Tynemouth.

Had a great weekend, and in all the excitement me and Jack completely forgot to eat some easter eggs! Shocking!

Impromptu solo movie night

Had a strange urge to watch a K Stew movie.. found one i’d never heard of, downloaded it, watched it.

Clearly had some sort of impact on me for me to blog about it.. ha :/ so here goes..

Welcome to the Rileys is essentially, about a couple.. who’s daughter died in a car crash when she was 15. They form a strange relationship with a girl they meet and in an obscure way, try to replace their daughter.

The husband is miserable, feeling trapped in an unloving marriage. The wife suffers from severe anxiety and has gotten to the point where she can’t work up the courage to even leave the house. The girl is a stripper and a prostitute who leads a self destructive life full of drugs, sex and self mutilation.

I can’t tell you which one.. but I feel like I could easily end up as 1 of these 3 characters at some point in my life..

Whatevsss I’m drunk

Contemplating whether or not to update my blog to a paid blog for more functionality.

Currently trying to add an Instagram Widget without much luck, i just want people to experience my hektikk photography skills *smirk*… WHY IS LIFE SO DIFFICULT! I have resulted in adding it as a Menu item for now.. then maybe MAYBE one day, I will splurge and pay for my blog and get all creative and put my web programming skills into action… we’ll see! I’ll weigh up the pro’s and con’s later… when I sober up. HA!

45 lessons to live by

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass

”To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I’ve ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short enjoy it.

4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don’t have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.

7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye . But don’t worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful. Clutter weighs you down in many ways.

18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It’s never too late to be happy.  But it’s all up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then  go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ‘In five years, will this matter?’

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive but don’t forget.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time,  time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.

35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. Accept what you already have, not what you need.

42. The best is yet to come…

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.”

Back In Time – Pitbull

This is my happy song at the moment, the song I have on repeat, the song that makes me want to dance ^_^ loving life.

I like to house shop.

I’m not buying.. not even looking to rent, but I LOVE looking at houses on the market. Just now I was searching for cool loft buildings in the Inner West (seriously I’m obsessed with loft buildings atm) and I stumbled across my old office building! Still love it! (looked cooler with our lime green front doors though)
